The History of Poulner Players
Poulner Players was formed in 1975 from a nucleus of church members of St John’s, Poulner, who for some years had been providing entertainments at the annual Harvest Suppers. However, it soon became apparent that the group wanted greater challenges, and coupled with a need to raise money for the (then) new church hall, ‘Poulner Players’ came into existence.
From these early beginnings the group moved on to produce an annual pantomime in February and a play in May. In 1990 they broke with this tradition and put on the musical, ‘Oliver,’ and since then a musical or musical play has occasionally been an alternative to the traditional pantomime. An August studio production was introduced in 2006 and has since been a regular feature of the Poulner Players year.
